Welcome to the Virtual Hogwarts forum of Harry Potter's World of Magic Theme Park. You will find our original website here at www.angelfire.com/tx5/worldofmagic ; however, all of our virtual Hogwarts activities take place on this forum.
This forum's mission is to encourage imaginative roleplay based in and around Hogwarts and other parts of Harry Potter's world. Our target audience is primarily teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18, although we also have adults who participate and may occasionally have a member who is slightly younger.
We would encourage anyone participating in this forum to bear in mind that the purpose of this forum is to encourage enjoyable communication and imaginative interaction between all participants. As such, we would caution against exploring overly "mature" themes in detail.
Likewise, we wish to maintain an environment that is "user-friendly" to a wide range of people. We especially emphasize the desire to avoid overly dark or violent interactions, as this tends to cast a veil of malevolence over the entire school. Adults in particular should be careful to avoid "taking over" the boards or showing marked preference to participants who are willing and ready to delve into the darker side of Harry Potter's world or even stray from the world of Harry Potter altogether in order to pursue more dramatic territory.
We realize that the Harry Potter series includes a great deal of darkness and some violence, but these things are generally portrayed as being "abnormal" and unaccepted by the wizarding community in general. Students do not walk through the halls of Hogwarts chatting loudly about their Death Eater parents or admitting openly that they support the Dark Lord in the books. Nor should they here. Likewise, although there are certain characters with "questionable" or "outstanding" qualities -- a werewolf professor, the occasional animagus, a witch who is part Veela, etc... - the majority of the characters in the book are fairly normal. Hogwarts is not inhabited by a host of blood-thirsty vampires, fully transformed werewolves, and evil ghouls. Therefore, for those of you who chose to adopt somewhat "unpure" blood lines, we would urge you to handle your less-than-savory qualities with subtlety and caution.
Our hope is that those who participate in this forum will have an opportunity to bring the magic of the Harry Potter books alive in an interactive format. We also hope that each and every one of you comes away with the memory of friendships made along the way. Most importantly, we want everyone here to be motivated to participate regularly and to have fun.
Thank you for sharing our vision,
Ali and Andy
